April 21, 2020
Dear Camp Swatara Family and Friends,
Greetings to each of you, in the name of Jesus, we remember you and are thankful for you. On behalf of our staff and board – WE MISS YOU!!
Long ago, a dear mentor reflected that what ‘makes’ a place is the people. That is true of Camp Swatara, not only of our staff, but also you, our campers and guests. We hope that you are well and that this message brings encouragement and joy in these days.
With thanksgiving, we experience the generosity and provision of God through you, our family and friends. Since April 9th, 2020, many of you have responded to our invitation to give, benefiting our staff, maintaining our infrastructure and structures, and fulfilling our monthly commitments. Thank you!
What we have received has been timely, yet we acknowledge there will be impact for some time. As you are able, would you consider a gift to Camp Swatara, either an ongoing, monthly commitment or one-time donation to help support us during this season as we have been unable to serve and host campers and guests? You can also watch for our Camp Swatara Care Packages coming to the website soon!
Like each of you, we are feeling and experiencing loss. Whether through the absence of physical presence – from one on one meetings to group gatherings; to remaining apart even when we are together, avoiding contact, avoiding touch. It is a time when we, for the sake of ‘protection’, yield to living more impersonally. Here at Camp, we recognize that this is a hard time, for a handful of reasons – for each of us. We look forward to the day, SOON, when we can host you, your family, or your camper for Retreats, at the Family Campground, or at Summer Camp.
Until then, please be aware that we have extended our closing through Friday, May 15th, 2020. Please expect to find details about our summer program and operations included as part of our next update. And lastly, we will be supplying a seasonal site holder update before the end of this week with additional details.
May the Lord bless and keep you,
Tim Courtright, Executive Director, Camp Swatara
