Outdoor Education - Canoeing & Stream Studies

REGISTRATION FULL.

Why don’t boats sink? And why is the paddle shaped the way it is? Join us for a fun morning where we learn the basics of canoeing and enjoy a little creek exploring! Be sure to do some good arm stretches the morning of - that way you can be a strong paddler on the Camp Swatara lake!

8:50am – Arrive
9:00am – Check In & Pay

9:05am – Welcome, Prayer, and Games
9:20am
Canoeing 101 & Streat Study 101
9:40am – Stations (Canoeing station, stream study station, and free time)
10:10am – Stations rotate  
10:45am – Stations rotate
11:25am -  Debrief and Announcements

11:30am – Closing Circle and Prayer
11:45am – Optional Family Picnic / Bonus Canoe Time

Cost: $7/child pay online OR $20/Family pay at the event.

What to bring?
Payment (if you didn’t pay online) , a face mask, and a heart for adventure!

Optional: Magnifying glasses, stream nets, life jackets, sandals, water shoes, shorts for the creek, extra clothes in case you get wet!

Parking:
We will be parking in the campground sites near the Campground store. We will then gather near the canoe dock to start the program.

Notes:

  • Each canoe must have someone over the age of 16 in it. Families are encouraged to buddy up to make this work accordingly.

  • Canoes and life jackets are provided, however, you are welcome to bring your own.

  • You may bring a packed lunch and enjoy a family picnic afterwards.
