Why don’t boats sink? And why is the paddle shaped the way it is? Join us for a fun morning where we learn the basics of canoeing and enjoy a little creek exploring! Be sure to do some good arm stretches the morning of - that way you can be a strong paddler on the Camp Swatara lake!

9:00am – Check In & Pay
9:05am – Welcome, Prayer, and Games
9:20am – Canoeing 101 & Streat Study 101
9:40am – Stations (Canoeing station, stream study station, and free time)
10:10am – Stations rotate
10:45am – Stations rotate
11:25am - Debrief and Announcements
11:30am – Closing Circle and Prayer
11:45am – Optional Family Picnic / Bonus Canoe Time
Cost: $7/child pay online OR $20/Family pay at the event.
What to bring?
Payment (if you didn’t pay online) , a face mask, and a heart for adventure!
Optional: Magnifying glasses, stream nets, life jackets, sandals, water shoes, shorts for the creek, extra clothes in case you get wet!
Parking:
We will be parking in the campground sites near the Campground store. We will then gather near the canoe dock to start the program.
Notes:
Each canoe must have someone over the age of 16 in it. Families are encouraged to buddy up to make this work accordingly.
Canoes and life jackets are provided, however, you are welcome to bring your own.
You may bring a packed lunch and enjoy a family picnic afterwards.
