Camp Swatara has hired Allison Mattern as the new Family Camping Center Manager at the resignation of Rick & Sarah Balmer.
Allison grew up in Campbelltown PA and attended Slippery Rock University where she earned a degree in Environmental Science and pursued course work related to park and campground interpretation which she holds certifications in.
Camping across the country as a child with her family in their pop-up camper was when Allison fell in love with camping and the outdoors. Her family joined the Palmyra Church of the Brethren when she was in 3rd grade, and most summers since then she has been a camper at Camp Swatara. During summers in college Allison was employed at camp as a counselor, coordinator, and director.
Allison has completed a summer internship where she was given the opportunity to travel to Texas and act as a Park Ranger & Interpreter(guide) for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Her favorite pasttimes include bird watching, hiking, and spending time with her dog. She is excited to welcome you and your church group to spend time in Creation at the Family Camping Center!
